The Trinidad & Tobago edition is our starting point. The World edition provides a separate view of international reporting. AIT Network is an independent news-discovery service operated by Advanced Information Technologies Limited.

We connect readers to reporting produced by other publishers. We do not present their journalism as our own, and publisher names do not imply a partnership or endorsement. Each headline opens the original report in a new tab, where the publisher’s own access rules apply.

Available headlines are ordered by their original publication dates. Exact repeated links and normalized duplicate headlines are removed. Similar stories from different publishers may remain because they can contain different reporting or perspectives. Topic labels are assigned automatically from feed categories and may occasionally need correction.

There are no invented “trending” rankings, view counts or breaking-news labels. A feed-check time shows when sources were checked; it is different from the publication time on each story.

Our journal & community calendar.

The AITN Journal contains original articles and source-attributed summaries written by registered members and staff. Members can publish articles immediately, and remain responsible for their content and image permissions. Publication does not imply endorsement by AIT Network. Staff can remove articles and lock them pending review. Each article shows its byline and contributor username and relevant source links. Uploaded photographs carry a credit and reuse statement. Approved library photographs retain their file-photo context.

Registered readers may submit community events. Staff review submissions before they appear publicly. Event times use Trinidad & Tobago time (AST); ended events leave upcoming listings. Check details with the organizer before travelling or booking. Saving an event does not reserve a place, and downloaded calendar entries do not automatically receive later changes.

Follow the voices you enjoy.

Published contributors have an author page showing their name, username, original articles and optional bio and website. Authors become discoverable after publishing their first article. Profiles do not reveal drafts or account security details. Contributor bios and websites are self-described and do not imply endorsement. Staff can hide profile details that need review.

Registered readers can follow authors and browse their work in the Journal’s Following feed. Following choices are private; author pages show a total follower count. You can opt in to new-article alerts from followed authors in notification settings. Alerts begin with newly public articles; existing articles are not sent when you first follow an author.

Choose Like, Useful or Insightful on a Journal article. Each active account contributes one reaction per article and can change or remove it. Totals are public; individual choices are not listed publicly. Staff can pause new reactions by closing a discussion.

A useful, respectful conversation.

Registered members can comment on published Journal articles, reply to other readers, and edit or delete their own comments. Comments appear immediately under your display name and username. Keep discussions relevant, credit your sources, disagree respectfully, and avoid harassment, spam, impersonation or sharing private personal information. Do not post material you lack permission to share.

Use Report on an article or comment to explain a concern. Reports and saved evidence are private to the reporter and staff. Staff may share the concern with the contributor without identifying the reporter. Moderators can remove or restore comments and articles, close or reopen discussions, and record decisions. Deleted comments leave a placeholder so replies remain understandable; evidence already attached to a report is retained for review.

In-app notifications let you follow comments on your articles, replies and staff decisions. Your inbox displays up to 500 updates from the last 90 days. Notifications are visible only to your account. No email or push subscription is needed.

Credit belongs with the source.

Local publishers’ public RSS feeds supply headline links, source names, dates and basic attribution. We do not republish their article bodies or photographs. Our cards use a separately reviewed library of public-domain and Creative Commons photographs, with original category illustrations where there is no suitable match. Photographs are labelled as file photos, with their own subject, date and credit; they do not depict the reported events. See our photo credits and reuse terms.

Global Voices text is offered under Creative Commons Attribution 3.0. We credit Global Voices and the author alongside its headline links. Other publishers retain their respective rights. Attribution alone is not permission to reproduce full articles or photos.

See the source directory for our current sources and availability. Source selection can change as feeds, terms and availability change. Publishers can contact us about attribution, links or removal.

Local businesses & service notices.

The business directory lets registered members submit business details, contact methods and a main photograph. Staff review new listings and owner changes before publication. Previously approved details stay visible while proposed changes are private. An ownership-reviewed label means staff checked management authority; it is not a guarantee of service quality. Confirm opening hours, availability and prices with the business directly.

Ownership requests, supporting explanations, private contact emails and staff feedback are visible only to the applicant and staff. Applicants can withdraw a pending ownership request and remove its submitted evidence. Public business contacts and approved photographs are visible to everyone; only submit details and images you are authorised to publish.

The local alerts centre links directly to official electricity, water and weather pages. AIT Network notices are original staff-prepared summaries with a source, source-check time and defined period. They are not an automatically imported outage feed. Ended notices leave current listings but may remain available at their original link for reference. An empty list or an expired notice does not mean that services are operating normally.

Reviews, quotes, event RSVPs & marketplace.

Business reviews show the member's display name, rating and written experience publicly. Members can update or withdraw their review; business owners can reply. Ratings are member opinions, and purchases are not verified. Staff can hide contributions and review member reports. Report reasons and staff responses are private to the reporter and staff; reported text is retained with the report.

Quote requests share your display name, description, general service area and optional photographs with each business you choose. Each request is separate: one recipient cannot see the other businesses or their responses. Access stays with the original customer and recipient if business ownership changes. Quote text and photos are private through the site and are not end-to-end encrypted. Cancelled and completed requests remain in the participants' quote history. You can continue a quote discussion through the existing private messaging system.

When an organiser enables RSVPs, you can register Going or Interested, or join the waiting list when places are full. One place is allocated per account. Cancelling frees the place for the next waiting member. The organiser and staff can see and export attendee display names, usernames and RSVP choices; other visitors see totals only. You can cancel your RSVP or turn off event notifications on its RSVP page. Reminders and event changes use your notification preferences. RSVPs do not replace tickets or payments required by an organiser.

Marketplace drafts and pending listings are visible to the seller and staff. Approved listings show the item details, photographs, seller display name, username and membership month publicly. Active listings run for 30 days and may be marked sold or given away. Sold and expired items can remain visible at their original links. Editing a published item returns it to review. Saved items are private to your account. Contacting a seller uses private chat, including its message-request and block controls. AITN does not collect payment for items or service quotes.

Quote and marketplace photographs are resized and re-encoded to remove embedded metadata. Quote attachments remain private to the two participants; approved marketplace photographs are public. For help with stored contributions, photos or account-data removal, use our contact details below.

Your homepage, your way.

Homepage settings let you choose widgets, reorder community sections, add favourite shortcuts and select a comfortable or compact headline layout. Signed-in choices are stored privately with your account, together with an update time and revision, and apply across devices on their next page load.

When you save as a guest, a preference cookie stores your chosen section, widget and shortcut identifiers and layout for up to one year. It contains no account identity, reading history or device location. Restore default layout removes that guest preference cookie; clearing your browser cookies also removes it. Guest layouts stay separate from account layouts. Changing your homepage does not change saved stories, news interests, RSVPs or notification preferences.

Your weekend plan.

The Weekend planner groups published events by date, area and interest. Your saved plan uses the same private bookmarks as your saved event list. Adding or removing a saved choice does not reserve a place, change your RSVP or turn on reminders. Manage those separately on the event's RSVP page.

Cancelled saved events stay labelled in your plan. Events that are no longer public have their details hidden. Overlap warnings compare scheduled times only; allow time for travel. A downloaded calendar is a snapshot of public event details for your selected dates. Re-download it after changes and check the event page before travelling.

Community groups.

Community groups connect people by place and interest. Approved group descriptions, rules, posts, photographs, comments and contributor display names are public. Registered members must join and accept the rules before participating. New groups and edits to their details require staff approval; the group is not public while details are under review.

Group owners can appoint group moderators and transfer ownership to an active member. These permissions apply only to that group. Managers and site staff can see its membership list, review reports, hide content and restrict participation. Reports about the group itself are reviewed by site staff. Reports about posts and comments are visible to group managers and site staff; only the reporter sees their report and review outcome in My groups. Copies of reported text and associated photos are retained for review.

You can edit your contribution text or withdraw your posts and comments. Withdrawal hides content from the public, including a post's photographs; moderators may still review it but cannot republish an author-withdrawn contribution. Leaving a group does not remove earlier public contributions. Photographs are resized and re-encoded to remove embedded metadata. Share only photos you own or have permission to publish, and include any required credits in your post.

Group notifications start off. You may enable new-post and reply alerts for each joined group. They appear in your notification inbox; email and browser delivery use your existing alert settings. Leaving, restricting membership or turning group alerts off stops pending external group alerts. For removal of stored account data or moderation assistance, contact us below.

Find and save business offers.

The Deals & Offers hub collects current offers from approved public business profiles. It uses the same details and staff approval process as the directory. Regional results also include nationwide service coverage. Confirm availability, prices and conditions with the business directly; AITN does not reserve offers or collect payment.

Saved offers and expiry-reminder choices are private to your account. You can remove them in My saved offers. An optional reminder is created when the saved offer has less than 24 hours left; email or browser delivery follows your activity notification settings. Expired, withdrawn or replaced offers do not generate new expiry reminders. If a business changes the offer, you must review and save its current terms again. Saved entries record the business, offer version, expiry time, your reminder preference and activity times.

Your forecast, clearly labeled.

Weather is based on forecast data from MET Norway, provided under CC BY 4.0. We select the forecast time nearest the current time, round values for display and convert wind speed to kilometres per hour. These values are forecasts, not live station observations.

The displayed daily ranges are calculated from the forecast points available for each local day. Today’s range covers the remaining available forecast points. Weather times use Atlantic Standard Time (AST, UTC−4).

Forecasts are cached on our server, respecting the provider’s expiry headers. If fresh data is unavailable, the site identifies cached forecasts or shows an unavailable message. For official Trinidad and Tobago warnings and advice, use the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service.

Advertising spaces.

Areas labelled Advertising space are reserved for future advertisements. They currently contain no live Google ads and do not contact an advertising network. These spaces are kept separate from headlines, article text and navigation. Our privacy information will be updated when live advertising is introduced.

Your saved items, together.

My Saved brings together the headlines, Journal articles, events, jobs, marketplace listings and offers already saved to your account. The library is private and reuses those bookmarks. Search and filters do not search private drafts or staff notes. Items that are no longer public show a generic unavailable message.

Removing a bookmark here removes it from the original saved list too. Removing a saved offer also stops that offer’s saved reminder. It does not cancel an event RSVP, change your weekend plan or delete an offline text copy. Those features have separate controls. Guest browser bookmarks remain on that browser until you choose to import them from My account.

Finding and organising your saved items.

Search suggestions send your typed words to AITN after at least two characters. Suggestions and spelling alternatives use public listings and available headlines; they do not search private messages, drafts, collection names or staff notes. No outside suggestion service is used. Search requests, including typed words, can appear in standard hosting access logs. AITN does not create a separate personal search-history list.

Bulk controls in My Saved apply to up to 12 selected items on the current page. Removing bookmarks also removes their collection links and stops attached saved-offer reminders. For five minutes, your signed-in browser session keeps the last removed batch so you can undo it. The temporary record contains the bookmark data and collection references. Undo does not replace a bookmark that you saved again, and cannot restore deleted content or exceed saved-item limits. Starting another bulk removal replaces the previous undo record. Undo becomes unavailable after five minutes. The temporary record is cleared on your next My Saved visit after expiry, or when the session ends.

Private collections.

You can organise account bookmarks into up to 24 named collections, with optional descriptions. A bookmark can belong to more than one collection. Collection names, descriptions and memberships are stored with your account and are available only to you through the website. They are not included in public profiles, search or readership insights.

Deleting a collection keeps its bookmarks. Removing a bookmark from any saved section removes it from its collections too; saving it again leaves it unsorted. Collection choices do not change offer reminders, event RSVPs, weekend plans or offline text copies.

Simple readership insights.

AITN records aggregate views of selected public sections and public Journal articles after a page has been visible for two seconds. We store only the day, section, article identifier where relevant, and count. These reports contain no reader identities, IP addresses, search text or individual browsing histories. Counts are approximate views, not unique visitors or completed reads.

The existing browser session temporarily remembers counted page identifiers to avoid counting repeated opens within 30 minutes. Those temporary records expire with the session. No separate analytics cookie or cross-site identifier is added. Daily totals are retained for up to 180 days; expired totals are removed on the next counted visit. Staff browsing, an author’s own article visits, known bots, private pages and offline reading are excluded. We honour Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals for this counting. Blocking JavaScript or session cookies may also prevent a count.

Authors can see views and current saves, reactions and visible comment totals for their own published articles. Admins can see aggregate site and contributor performance. Article engagement already stored by AITN is reused; we do not expose who saved or viewed an article. These counts do not personalise your feed.

Your Professional tools and privacy.

Membership tools store your chosen résumé versions, project records, quote details, matching preferences and optional creator branding. Portfolio entries start private and can be shared through your work profile’s visibility settings. Résumé versions are shared only when selected for a proposal; editing or archiving a version stops access through its previous proposal links. Downloaded copies already held by another person cannot be recalled. Project photographs are resized and re-encoded to remove embedded metadata; review the visible content and obtain permission before sharing.

PDFs are prepared in your browser with locally hosted software. AITN does not send their contents to an external PDF service. Profile statistics record daily aggregate counts, with one visit per signed-in viewing session per day, and exclude your own visits. Individual visitors are not shown; daily totals are retained for up to 180 days.

Offer claims retain their terms, codes and redemption status. When you present a code, the assigned redemption contact or administrator can see your name and eligibility. Learning registrations and completion checklists are saved to your account; administrators can view session registrations. Completion checklists and membership cards do not verify identity or qualifications. Basic members retain access to their own saved documents and can cancel an existing session registration. Future paid membership requires a separate opt-in; no subscription is charged during the launch preview.

A simple, private reading experience.

You can browse as a guest without an account. Guest bookmarks, weather location and theme preferences use this browser’s local storage. Signing in gives you a separate reading list stored with your account, available across devices. You may choose to import available guest bookmarks; they are not imported automatically. Clear your reading list on its page, or clear browser preferences through your browser’s site-data settings.

Accounts store a username, display name, password hash, recovery-code hash, role, status and account activity times. We use an essential, HTTP-only session cookie to keep you signed in and protect account forms. Sessions expire after one hour of inactivity or twelve hours overall. Passwords and recovery codes are not stored in readable form. Keep your private recovery code for password resets; notification email is optional and does not replace your recovery code for account access.

Headline reports and staff responses are visible to the reporter and site staff. Staff actions and account security events are logged for accountability. Admins can manage roles and suspend accounts; Moderators review reports and headline visibility. To request account-data removal or help with access, use our contact details below.

Your chosen news interests and default weather location can be saved to your account. Personal feeds filter by those choices; we do not track your reading to rank stories. Saved AITN articles and events also follow your account and can be removed on their detail pages. Event submissions and review feedback are visible to you and staff until publication; approved event details become public. Avoid placing private personal information in a submission.

The jobs board stores employer submissions, private employer contact details and staff review notes. Only the submitter and site staff can view private drafts and review details. Approved vacancy information is public; unapproved edits stay private until reviewed. Saved jobs are private to your account and can be removed individually or cleared together. Closed jobs remain available for reference but no longer show application buttons. For these employment vacancies, applications go directly to the employer’s chosen website or email; AITN does not send applications on your behalf. The separate short-term Work section supports member profiles and private proposals as described below.

Short-term service jobs: AITN Work stores job briefs, general areas, target budgets, private site instructions, worker profiles, proposals, agreements, job updates and completion evidence. A profile is shared only with hirers you apply to unless you choose visibility to signed-in members. Each proposal includes a copy of the profile you agreed to share. Previous shared copies remain in those job records when you change your profile or membership. Exact site instructions are available to the hirer and selected worker. Private proposal discussions are limited to that hirer and applicant. Completion reports and photographs are limited to the hirer and selected worker; raising an issue also grants reviewing staff access to the agreed job record and evidence while the issue is open.

For on-site Work engagements, the selected worker can explicitly request and share a single device-location reading. It records coordinates, estimated accuracy and the time received. AITN does not continuously track workers. The worker can remove precise coordinates from that job; check-in times remain. Opening a check-in on an external map sends the coordinates in that map link. Uploaded evidence photographs are re-encoded to remove embedded metadata. Work records remain for agreement history and issue handling; contact us below for account-data removal requests. Profile and qualification claims are supplied by members and are not identity or licence verification.

Work membership stores the selected plan. Professional membership is currently a free launch preview: planned subscription pricing is displayed, but no card, bank details, charge, renewal, currency conversion or worker payout is processed. Enabling the free preview does not authorise future subscription charges.

Private messages store the conversation participants, message text, attached files and times, requests, archive choices, unread progress and blocks. Only participants can open a conversation through the site. New contacts send one request message, and replies require the recipient’s acceptance. You can stop new requests, block members or archive conversations from Messages. After a request is accepted, participants can share up to five photos or files per message, up to 2 MB each. Files require a signed-in participant to preview or download; they have no public upload address. Photos are resized and re-encoded to remove embedded metadata. Archiving does not delete messages or files. Messages are stored on our server and are not end-to-end encrypted. Reporting a received message shares it and up to two earlier messages with staff, including your own messages and any attachments in that context. Staff receive only this reported context through the message review queue. Reports and staff responses remain available to the reporter; access and review actions are logged. Participants can privately search their conversation text and filenames, browse shared photos and documents, and open results in context. File contents are not indexed. Searching or browsing these results does not mark messages as read. Messages are not included in public search and do not show other members online status or read receipts. You can opt in to generic unread-message notifications by email or browser; these do not include message text or member names. For account-data removal, contact us below.

When instant messaging is enabled, signed-in pages connect to Pusher Channels over an encrypted connection. Pusher receives your IP address, connection metadata and a pseudonymous account channel, plus small activity signals. Message text, files and member names are not included in those signals. Your browser retrieves messages directly from AITN after an account access check. Automatic refresh continues if the connection is unavailable. Guests do not connect to Pusher.

My Area can remember your selected place privately in your account. It does not request your device location. Community polls store your account, selected answer and voting time to enforce one vote per account. Only aggregate totals from active accounts are public; individual choices are not listed publicly. Poll results reflect voluntary participation, not a representative survey. Business gallery photographs, service menus and offers follow the same staff review as directory listings; offers stop appearing publicly after their expiry time.

We do not install advertising trackers or third-party analytics. Our hosting provider may record standard security and access logs, including IP addresses and requested URLs. Searches cover public headlines, articles, authors, upcoming events, approved businesses and unexpired notices; the search terms appear in the page URL and may therefore appear in hosting logs.

News feeds and weather data are retrieved by our server. When you follow a publisher or other external link, that site receives your visit and its own privacy terms apply. If you contact us by email, we receive the information you choose to send and use it to handle your request.

Protect your sign-in.

Members can enable optional two-factor sign-in with an authenticator app. Setup requires your current password and a working six-digit code. You receive ten single-use backup codes to keep privately for times when your phone is unavailable. We store authenticator keys encrypted and backup codes as hashes. The setup QR code is generated in your browser and is not sent to an external QR service.

Your password-recovery code resets a forgotten password; it does not remove two-factor protection. Signing in afterwards still requires an authenticator or unused backup code. Changing your password, replacing recovery or backup codes, or turning off two-factor sign-in requires your current password and, when enabled, a second-factor code. These changes end your other sessions.

Account protection lists active sessions by approximate browser and operating system, with sign-in, last-activity and expiry times. You can end a selected other session or all other sessions. Access ends on that session’s next request. This list stores an opaque session identifier, a hashed access token, optional hashed notification-device identifier, browser/device label and activity times; it does not store your IP address or precise location. Expired session records are removed after 30 days when a new session is created. Account security changes are logged for accountability.

Keep your authenticator and backup codes safe. If you lose both, password recovery alone cannot complete sign-in. Contact us using the details below for help; access recovery is not automatic.

Make room for a good read.

Journal articles include optional text size, book-style type and line-spacing controls. These appearance choices are saved in this browser’s local storage, apply across Journal articles and remain after sign-out. They do not sync with your account. Use Reset appearance to remove the saved choices. If storage is unavailable, the controls still work for the current page.

The reading-progress indicator measures how much of the article has reached your screen; it does not confirm that you read it. It stays in page memory and is not saved or sent to AITN. Focus view also lasts only on the current page. Related articles use the current article’s topic and author, without a reading-history profile.

Copy link and section links use the public article address. Share opens your device’s sharing options only when you choose it; sending is up to you. Section links can change when an author renames a heading. Private previews have no sharing controls or public article previews. Print article uses your browser’s print controls.

A little reading to take with you.

You can install AITN through a supported browser’s app menu or Add to Home Screen option. Installation is optional and does not enable notifications. The installed app uses the same website and account, though some devices require signing in again.

Offline reading saves up to twenty text-only copies of public AITN Journal articles in this browser. It preserves article headings, paragraphs, lists, quotations, bylines, source links and descriptions of omitted photographs. It does not download external publisher websites, photographs, private drafts, comments, account pages, messages, current news results or forecasts.

Each copy records its saved and expiry times, public article identifier and revision. Copies expire after seven days and are removed when the shelf checks them. Refreshing a copy while connected downloads the current public text and starts a new seven-day period. When an online check finds an article is no longer available, the copy is removed. Offline text can be outdated while disconnected and cannot reflect a correction or withdrawal until it reconnects.

Copies are stored using this browser’s local database, separate from account bookmarks. They remain after sign-out, are accessible to anyone using the same browser, and are not synchronized to other devices. Remove one or all copies in Offline reading, or use your browser’s site-data controls. Browsers may remove stored copies when space is low or private browsing ends. A small public reading shell and its icons are cached so the shelf can open without a connection. No private account content is cached by the app.

Your updates, easier to find.

Your private notification inbox can be filtered by update type, read status and arrival date in Trinidad & Tobago time. Search matches words in your existing notification messages and type labels. It does not search private message bodies. Searches and filters are sent to AITN in the page address and may appear in hosting logs; they are not added to your saved searches or a separate search-history table.

You can mark one update or up to twenty selected updates read or unread. Mark matching updates read covers the current filters across pages, while preserving notifications that arrive after that view was loaded. Selection resets when you change pages or filters. Other accounts cannot access or change your inbox, including staff using their own account.

Opening this inbox does not mark notifications read automatically. Marking read may suppress an email or browser alert still waiting for delivery. Marking unread changes your reading state without creating a new delivery event or resetting delivery checkpoints. Notifications follow the existing limit of 500 entries and 90 days; read/unread actions do not extend that retention period.

Updates you choose.

Saved searches store your phrase, content type, area and previously matched item identifiers privately. Up to ten searches can be paused or removed. New public matches are checked on the scheduled update cycle, usually every five minutes. The Today in T&T briefing gathers available headline links, forecasts, public Journal articles, events, vacancies and notices; it is refreshed throughout the day and is not an archived newspaper or emergency alert service.

Email delivery requires a confirmed address and your permission. We store your notification address, verification status and delivery preferences privately. Verification links expire in 30 minutes. AITN sends through Hostinger Email, which processes delivery information and email contents. Update emails contain generic account notices and, if selected, public briefing headlines. Each includes a link to stop notification emails without signing in. You can remove your notification address in settings.

Browser notifications require browser permission and an AITN subscription. We store the browser’s delivery endpoint, encryption keys and last use privately. Your browser’s push provider processes delivery metadata and encrypted notification payloads. Notifications show generic AITN updates, not private message contents. A small HTTP-only device cookie identifies the registration. Signing out removes that browser registration; changing account security invalidates previous registrations. Inactive registrations expire after 90 days. Remove individual or all browser registrations in notification settings. The shared notification and app service worker caches only a fixed public offline reading shell. It does not cache private pages, messages, account forms or live results.

Choose your notification categories, daily delivery and quiet hours in AST. Delivery checkpoints prevent repeated sends of the same updates under normal operation; interrupted delivery can occasionally retry. Unread updates older than two days are skipped for external delivery. Notification queue records are retained for up to 90 days. Reading an update before dispatch can suppress its email or browser alert. Browser and email services may delay delivery.

Maps & location privacy.

The map’s place browser filters the public map snapshot by category, island and distance from the selected map centre. These distances are straight lines, not travel distances. A map entry does not confirm opening hours or public access. Directions open Google Maps for the selected public place.

Share map view creates a link containing the map centre, zoom, angle and selected layers. Anyone with that link can reopen the view. Shared views contain no account information, listing search text or device location; the optional device-location search remains separate and does not move the map. Place browsing and shared-view controls do not store personal data.

The island explorer uses MapLibre GL JS for 3D terrain and Leaflet for its basic 2D fallback. Its map data is hosted by AITN: loading the explorer does not contact an external map service. Relief is enhanced three times at island scale and twice at regional scale; close-up views use the natural elevation scale. This is a terrain overview, not a street map, navigation service or survey.

The modified T&T coastline dataset is available under the same license. Elevation is derived from Mapzen Terrain Tiles, using USGS SRTM and GMTED2010 data; the source terrain collection also credits NOAA ETOPO1. Outside-island heights were masked to sea level, coastal land samples were floored at one metre, and lower-resolution tiles were averaged. Roads, place names, waterways, land cover, public landmarks and building footprints come from the 9 September 2026 OpenStreetMap France T&T extract, © OpenStreetMap contributors under ODbL 1.0. The selected vector dataset and source metadata, overview geometry and place index are available under the same licence. Map detail is clipped to the islands with a small coastal tolerance, simplified by zoom and served by AITN. Coverage varies by area and reflects volunteered mapping. These background map features are separate from AITN’s reviewed business and event pins.

3D buildings are extruded mapped footprints. Recorded heights are used where available; floor counts are estimated at three metres per floor, and buildings without either use an illustrative six-metre height. Click a building to see the height basis and map source. Neither a footprint nor a map landmark confirms public access, opening times or current service availability.

The separate location editor uses OpenStreetMap street tiles when you load its pin picker. That action connects to OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address and requests for the map area you view. Listing results and links remain usable if map data is unavailable.

Device location is optional and requested only when you select “Use my location”. AITN uses those coordinates in browser memory to calculate nearby distances. AITN does not send your device coordinates to its server, store them in your account or add them to directions links. Leaving the page clears them. Directions open Google Maps with the public destination; Google may request location separately under its own settings.

Owners and organisers submit public business or event locations with a source and permission confirmation. Proposals and staff notes are visible only to the listing owner and site staff. After approval, coordinates, the public location label and source link are public. A changed address, venue or owner makes the previous pin unavailable until reconfirmed. Jobs and service notices have area descriptions, not precise pins or outage boundaries.
